Seasonal Changes

Read our haiku poems that explore the theme of renewal and fresh starts!

Haiku: Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five, traditionally evoking images of the natural world.

Cold air, crunchy snow

Gray skies, rain, and loads o' mud

Warm air, flowers bud

Winter is over

Petals will soon grow once more

Spring has sprung anew

Cold, miserable

thankfully almost over

but no more snow days :(

A Winter wedding!

Walking down the long aisle

Actually SPRING?

Snow melts, all away

a bird perches on a branch

and sits at the ranch

Dry winter is just right

to grow a perfect crystal

until humid spring

I love spring season

Pink blossoms bloom peacefully

I run through the fields

Spring is coming soon,

Snow melts dipping from the roof,

Jumping in puddles.

We may cling to snow

Afraid to step into spring

But, flowers bloom bright

Olympics

Our Favourite Olympians and Paralympians!

The Olympian I decided to choose is Sarah Nurse. I'm not a huge follower of sports, but I recently learned that she was the first Black female hockey player to win a gold medal in Olympic Ice Hockey. She achieved this feat with Team Canada in 2022. She grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, and when she was 7 years-old, she decided that one day she would play for Team Canada. This is inspiring to me because it really proves that once you set your mind to something, you can achieve it.

Valentine’s Vessel

This Saturday is February 14th, Valentine’s Day!

Here are some of our favourite quotations about love and the cupid with an arrow :

“Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get; only with what you are expecting to give, which is everything.”

- Katharine Hepburn

"Dear Dolores,

When I think of you, I'm reminded of the beautiful plains of Iowa.
The distance between us is breaking my spirit.
Falling in love with you was the easiest thing I have ever done.
Nothing matters to me but you.
And every day that I am alive, I am aware of this.
I loved you the day I met you, I love you today,
And I will love you for the rest of my life."

- From the film Green Book (2018)
